It's probably not broken

Most "slow" laptops just need a clean. Here's what's actually happening.

Dust clogs everything

Fans and vents fill up over time and trap heat inside. Your laptop can't breathe, so it throttles to protect itself.

Thermal paste dries out

Usually after 3 to 5 years. Once it fails, heat can't move off the CPU properly, and everything slows down.

Throttling kills performance

When a CPU overheats, it cuts its own speed to avoid damage, sometimes down to a small fraction of what it can do.

You don't need a new laptop

Most laptops people replace just need a good clean and repaste. A $72 service beats a $1,000 replacement.

Terms of Service

By replying "I agree," dropping off your laptop, or handing over payment, you confirm you've read and accepted these terms. If you don't agree, that's completely valid. FW Tech won't provide service. No hard feelings.

1. Hardware cleaning only. No software. No loopholes.+

FW Tech does hardware cleaning only. No software is touched, deleted, modified, or bypassed during or after service. That includes operating systems, apps, security software, and device management tools on work or school devices.

FW Tech does not service school or work-issued devices during an active enrollment or employment period. Your institution has an IT department for exactly this. Bypass requests of any kind are not accepted, and offering more money doesn't change the answer.

2. No hardware upgrades+

Cleaning and thermal services only. Upgrades are not offered, even if you supply the part.

3. Pre-existing damage and data privacy+

Every device is photographed before and after service. Damage present before drop-off is not FW Tech's responsibility. The photo record protects both sides.

FW Tech never accesses, views, or copies any files or personal information on your device. The work is physical. Your data is yours.

4. Service eligibility+

Every job is researched before work begins. If a device is outside what FW Tech can confidently service, the job is declined before it starts, at no charge. A declined job doesn't mean your laptop is fine. It means FW Tech isn't the right person for it.

5. Mid-service complications+

If a service can't be completed safely after work starts, FW Tech stops, reassembles the device as close to its original state as possible, and gives a full refund. Payment is earned by finishing the agreed work properly.

6. Cancellation policy+

Cancel any time before the point of no return and you get a full cash refund, no questions asked. After it, the job gets finished, payment is final, and the laptop comes back completed, because a laptop can't safely go back half done.

Where the line is: it depends on your service, and it's the same for everyone. Thermal repaste: when the old paste comes off the chip. Internal clean: when the fan and heatsink cleaning starts. Exterior clean only: when the wipe-down starts.

You'll see it coming: every booking gets a flight number and a private tracker that shows each step live. About 15 minutes before the point of no return, you get a heads-up email with the time it happens. Reply CANCEL before then for a full refund. No reply means the job keeps going. If something takes longer, you get a short delay email, nothing broke, and your cancel window stays open until the new time.

Proof: a real photo is taken at the point of no return, with your flight number on a tag in frame, and it shows up on your tracker.

Before drop-off: cancel anytime, free. Right after booking you can use the 2 minute cancel on this site. After that, just email.

If FW Tech cancels or can't finish safely (see section 5), you get a full refund, always.

On a deadline? Say so when you book and you'll get an honest estimate before anything is paid.

The short version

Payment: cash only, paid upfront at drop-off.

Turnaround: 1 to 4 days. FW Tech is not The Flash.

Pricing: same for everyone. Friendship discount is under maintenance.

Repaste only: fresh thermal paste, no fan or internal cleaning. That's Internal clean.

Cancelling: full refund until the point of no return. You get a heads-up email before it.

Bribes: $10 won't make me rush. $50 won't make me sabotage.

Privacy Policy

When you contact FW Tech, your name, email, pickup address or meeting spot, and a description of your device's issue may be collected for service purposes. It's kept in a private Google Sheet used only for internal records and tax documentation.

It is never sold, shared, or given to any third party. No marketing lists, no data brokers. Agreeing to the Terms of Service includes this Privacy Policy.
